NRA Basic Pistol Shooting
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.

This course is at least 4-hours long and includes online and classroom training as well as range time to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students register with NRA for the online portion and will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

All firearm handling and shooting is closely supervised and professionally managed at all times. Class lecture time is conducted indoors in a comfortable learning environment. Instructors are NRA Certified Instructors and active members of Sacramento County Firearms Education and Safety Council.
Classroom time three hours.
Range time two hours.

All materials and range fees are provided: guns, ammo, targets, and hearing and eye protection.
After including the $60 NRA online registration fee the total fee is $165.

Advanced registration and payment is required.
Additional training for the California Firearm Safety Certificate is available upon request. The FSC is required for handgun purchases and transfers. The FSC test and certificate is an extra $25.
